Working with Worry Part A
Worry at the top of the scale is often diagnosed as GAD - General Anxiety Disorder, but anxiety in certain circumstances is to be expected in life.
Anxiety triggers the Autonomic Nervous System into a Sympathetic response. This occurs when the Amygdala is stimulated in the Limbic System, resulting in a flood of Cortisol and Adrenaline.
When working with worry I break it down into linear worry and circular worry. The former is problem solving of a stressful problem, and the latter is a worry which is irrational and therefore cannot be satisfied, by simply thinking about it. This form of anxiety is often associated with PTSD - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Complex Trauma.
The Bible has a lot to say about fear and anxiety. It's mentioned 365 times! One for each day of the year as the Lord reassures and encourages us.
"Can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Therfore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough worry of its own" Jesus speaking in Matthew 6.26b and 6.34.
